Weekly Notes (40/41/42) - 2024

Gathered notes for the past three weeks this time. I had been caught up mostly with hospital visits, work and travel.

Updates

  • A new update in my life is that I started keeping work logs, which document my daily personal and professional tasks. The link is currently restricted for personal reasons, it will be available upon request to view for now. I will publish them as an on-going tracker in a couple of weeks. Personally, it does give a sense of completion on a daily basis.

  • I improvised a little on the blog which I had been procrastinating for quite sometime. I plan to write a separate post about the enhancements I made, and I’m really happy I got it done.

  • Work has been going well. Although there have been some lags and delays, the team's collective effort and attention have made a positive impact overall.

Friends & Family

  • Earlier in the week, Jagan met with an accident and was hospitalised, but thankfully, he’s on the mend. I check in on him periodically to monitor his recovery.

  • I travelled to Chennai to send my mom off to the UK. It was a busy week full of packing and preparations, but was manageable. My mom shares my love for travel, and I’ve always admired her courage and self-reliance.

  • I read a sci-fi short story written by Ram, which is right up my alley. It was really good, and I’m looking forward to its release.

  • I caught up with Bobby on a co-working day after months apart. We spent good few hours catching up on each others life, and I am excited for him about his new apartment. It also looks like I might be co-working with another friend from Peppo in the coming weeks.

  • I had my birthday week in between, and I’m grateful for all the well-wishes. Hemanth gifted me Yuva Projector, which lets me watch things comfortably from my bed, although Tars seems a bit frightened by the very idea. It's always 10 mins into the play and he starts barking at the ceiling like he’s trying to figure out why this strange light is invading his space.

Musings

  • During hospital visit, my cousin was required to stay awake overnight for tests, which apparently affected his ECG and blood pressure readings.

    • It raises a broader question as to why most hospitals often neglect the importance of sleep and diet, given how essential they are to recovery.

    • I recall reading that when a dog is taken to a veterinarian, the first questions asked are about its diet and whether they had slept well. I wonder why we don’t ask the same questions for human patients. I am assuming this will change in the near future.

  • I have been regularly following Om Malik's blog. A recent post on how websites are being shut down while social media platforms continue to rise caught my attention.

    • Personally I feel, this shift is connected to how platforms guide our choices, often deciding what’s best for us.

    • With so many options out there, picking the right one can be overwhelming. I want to rethink this approach by making more conscious choices—focusing on what solves my problem, fits my budget, and aligns with my intentions, rather than just following the suggestions given to me. It’s natural to resist change when any new technology disrupts routines or things we’ve relied on for years. However, I think taking the time to periodically question what’s necessary, can help us align our actions more effectively with our goals.
